These photographs document my 2022 collaboration with the My Mulan Dance Drama troupe, where we reimagined the ancient tale of Mulan for contemporary audiences. While rooted in Chinese classical dance, our production explored modern themes of gender identity, personal sacrifice, and female empowerment that resonate deeply today.

The images showcase our creative process: from intensive rehearsals to stage performances. We merged traditional Chinese dance techniques with contemporary movement vocabulary, creating a bridge between centuries-old storytelling and modern artistic expression. Through our choreography, Mulan’s journey of self-discovery speaks to today’s conversations about identity, duty, and courage.
